Junior Sports on Friday 2 November

What an awesome day on Friday! It was great to see the way all of the children gave it their absolute best and competed really well in all of the activities. The spaghetti walk was lots of fun, so now I have another full year to think about some more lovely things to squelch through!
Thank-you very much to those of you that controlled an activity station, your help and support is very much appreciated.

Here are the children doing a wonderful job of their concert item last week. They were all super excited about being up on stage and did themselves proud. I am sure the smiles were brighter than the stage lights!
Well done all of you!

Tom, Charlie, Broden and Jimmy learning how to be safe during last weeks Safety Expo run by the Selwyn District COuncil

Hi everyone, this week we are flat out working on our production item. The children have been busy learning all of the school songs as well as perfecting their own item. Could the children bring gumboots to school by Friday of this week. We will need to keep them at school for the production - hopefully their won't be too much rain about and they can do with out them for a few days!
On Wednesday we will be going to the Dunsandel Hall for our whole school practice - an extra big lunch would be good for the children as it will be a long morning.
We continue with numeracy this week for maths.
We send out a very warm welcome to Victoria who joins our Room 1 family this week.
Enjoy this lovely weather!

Harry and Breanna working on a 'yellow yacht' for the letter 'y' last week.

Hi everyone - this week in Room 1 we are still working on Kiwiana activities and the unique icons that we have in our country. We are busy learning whole school songs for the production and are beginning to practise our individual item.
For maths we are working on numeracy still, if you have any extra time to get your child to practise writing the number 2 and the number 5 - as these are the two digits that the children have difficulty writing correctly.
For phonics and handwriting this week we are doing the following letters; z, a, d, g and q
Have a really good week and feel free to pop in at any time to see us in Room 1

Weekly Note 6 August 2007

Hi everyone, this week in Room 1 we welcome Emily who has her big 5th birthday on Wednesday.
We begin our big integrated unit this week. It is an arts based Kiwana unit with the big focus being our school production in Week 9.
We continue with Numeracy for maths - this week looking at addition and subtraction to and with 5.
Please can you keep any cereal boxes, tissue boxies etc as our make and do area is a little depleted. Just send them along to school with your child if you have any spare.
Have a super week
Anna

30 July 2007

A big Room 1 welcome to Tom and Lilly who start their school life this week. We are finishing off with our Healthy Bodies topic this week. The children have made some fantastic posters about hand washing. We will put the posters in all of the toilets to remind everyone. We continue with Numeracy at maths time. We are looking at number identification and adding groups to 5.
On Wednesday I will be having a release day for new Entrant checks - Mrs Chambers will be teaching in Room 1. On Thursday between 2pm and 3pm Mrs Calder will be with the class while I work with our school's ICT leader.
Have a great week
Anna
